My favorite thing I’ve been doing in quarantine is eating.

I know I should be working on myself by working out and catching up on work I’ve never had the time to do.

I should be teaching myself how to do new things and getting do know who I am.

But the only thing I find myself doing is eating, watching TV, forcing myself to read something for a couple of minutes, then eating again.

It’s frustrating at times but something we all need to do is go easy on ourselves.

So since I’ve been getting to know my pantry a little more, I decided to share some of my favorite quarantine snacks with you and see if any of them have an ounce of nutritional value.

1. Cheez-its

Through some research I learned that cheez-its have absolutely no nutritional value. They can lead to long-term side effects like heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and weight gain…… So I think I’m going to try to eat less of these.

2. Cookies

Regular cookies made with sugar, loads of chocolate chips, and butter aren’t good for you as regular, everyday snacks. But there are many companies that make healthier versions of cookies by swapping out all-purpose flour for white whole flour, adding omega-3 fats like chia seeds to your cookie batter, and by replacing half the butter with Greek yogurt. TBH I probably won’t do any of these things if I make cookies, but I’m going to try some of the healthier cookies they have out there.

3. Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds

Compared to the two snacks above, these are good for you. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids that help lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers.

4. Tortilla Chips and Salsa

Raw salsa is extremely good for you since it contains Vitamin C and limited calories. Tortilla chips, on the other hand, are high in sodium which means they increase your blood pressure, risk of stoke, heart failure, stomach cancer, and kidney disease.

5. Dark Chocolate Covered Pomegranates

This snack lies in the middle of healthy and unhealthy. They don’t contain extremely healthy ingredients, but they also don’t contain a bunch of sugar and fat. There are some vitamins along with a high fat content. It’s important to eat this one in moderation.

Out of all of these snack, I think I want to stick to eating dark chocolate almonds. They are simple, healthy snack and honestly my favorite out of all the snacks listed.

I hope you enjoyed this article, and comment down below what snacks you’ve been eating during quarantine.

  1. Don’t beat up on yourself for not cleaning out your whole house or mastering a new skill. Everybody’s situation is different. I’m trying to finish a novel, but I had to get my kids through online schooling first. Just in the past week have I found time to write.
